Andrew P. Nitkewicz is a 1998 graduate from Touro Law School. Mr. Nitkewicz graduated from Hofstra University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance. While at Touro Law School he was Vice President of the law school’s Trial Advocacy and Competition Board and represented the law school in multiple mock trial competitions including Texas Young Lawyers Trial Competition and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America Trial Competition, which was televised on two local television stations.
In 2000 Mr. Nitkewicz joined the firm, then known as Avelino & Associates, P.C., as a trial attorney and head of its Litigation Practice. In 2008 Avelino & Associates, P.C. changed its name to Avelino Nitkewicz LLP to reflect Mr. Nitkewicz’s role as partner in the firm. Prior to joining the firm Mr. Nitkewicz was a trial attorney with the Law Office of Michael Aronoff, a law firm which specialized in the trial of catastrophic medical malpractice injury cases. From 1993 through 1999 Mr. Nitkewicz worked for the Law Office of Stephen M. Cohen. While at the Law Office of Stephen M. Cohen he was a trial attorney and litigation associate. Since becoming an attorney Andrew P. Nitkewicz has obtained numerous favorable jury verdicts in New York City Metropolitan Area State and Federal Courts. Several of these verdicts have been published in national verdict reporters.
Currently Mr. Nitkewicz is the head of the Litigation Practice of Avelino Nitkewicz LLP and litigates various complex litigation matters including Business and Commercial Litigation, Estate Litigation, Insurance Litigation, Medical Malpractice Litigation, Labor Law Litigation, Real Estate Litigation, Products Liability Litigation, Environmental Litigation and Negligence Litigation

In 2005 Mr. Nitkewicz was bestowed the honor of membership to the prestigious Million Dollar Advocates Forum. The Million Dollar Advocates Forum is the most prestigious group of trial lawyers in the United States. Membership is limited to attorneys who have won million and multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements. Mr. Nitkewicz was granted membership based, in part, upon a $6.3 million dollar medical malpractice settlement obtained on behalf of the estate of a 37 year old mother of twins who died after medical staff failed to timely diagnose and treat internal hemorrhaging following a cesarean section.
Charitable Endeavors:
Andrew P. Nitkewicz served as a member of the Board of Directors of P.U.L.S.E. of New York (Persons United in Limiting Substandards and Errors in Health Care). P.U.L.S.E. is a not-for-profit organization working to improve patient safety and reduce the rate of medical errors using real life stories and experiences.
Mr. Nitkewicz is also served as a member of the Committee to the Cody Comedy Festival, the annual fund raising event dedicated to raising funds crucial to the operation of the Cody Center. The Matt and Debra Cody Center for Autism & Development Disabilities at Stony Brook University is a regional center for individuals with Autism or related disorders, and their families, on Long Island.
Mr. Nitkewicz is also a proud member of the Brain Injury Association of New York State. The Brain Injury Association of New York State (BIANYS) is a statewide non-profit membership organization that advocates on behalf of individuals with brain injury and their families, and promotes prevention.
